so the last thirty...shmirty something years are now written all over my face!
There are subtle yet still noticable scars on my face from childhood. I have a chicken pock mark on my left eyelid and a scar on my chin from falling in gravel when I was 5.
I have a couple of deep pit marks on my cheeks from terrible acne in my teens and a new age spot on my lower left cheek area.
The stress of work and environment now show as dark circles under my eyes and dry sometimes droopy skin. Even my ears are starting to get eczema and I have a spot that flares up every once in a while along my jaw line.
Needless to say I'm not too thrilled about the ever changing roadmap on my face that is now displayed for all to see.
My husband reassures me that it's mostly in my head, but I see the look on his face when I turn back the clock with a more intense make-up application.
His head will tilt to the side as he tries to pick out what exactly has changed and he usually comments with a "Hey beautiful !". He's a sweetheart and I'm glad he notices, but it just goes to prove a point that it's no longer possible to just throw on some blush, mascara and lip gloss and call it a day.
It also seems like as soon I think I have it figured out a new flag shows up on the "map".
Currently I'm singing the praises of unrefined/ organic extra virgin coconut oil. It's a great...basically everything. It has a myriad of health benefits and happens to be a fantastic cleanser/moisturizer.
I know, I know...oil as a cleanser? It sounds like a greasy mess or a round of adult on-set acne waiting to happen. It's really not what you think though. It's anti-bacterial so it's great for break-outs. it's also an intense moisturizer. here's a link to my favorite DIY recipe from Camp Wander .
My next favorite product at the moment is by Mabelline .
It's the Instant Age rewind Dark Spot Eraser! It's amazing for a drug store score. It goes on super sheer, but with great coverage! You can't go wrong with this under $8 wonder!
Lastly lets talk moisturizers. I have a heck of a time with most of them. It's what I'm changing up the most in my skin care routine depending on time of year, etc.
The product that I'm most fond of was a gift from my Sis. It's from a line that you put on monthly order (not available in stores). The line is called Stages of Beauty and I'm using the "Harmony" treatment cream.
They are the only company that I know of to have developed skin care lines for each age group, or "stage of beauty". They carry a line for your 20's, 30's, 40's & 50+. The line was created by M.I.T. scientists.
I literally scrape the bottle on this one. It's a bit spendy, but a little goes a long way. It's at the top of my wish list, so I've received it for my last birthday and christmas gift! I believe it goes for $59 and is a 1.7fl oz. bottle. Here is a link to there You Tube : Stages of Beauty.
Well, that's going to be it for now, I'm hoping that you find this helpful. Let me know if you've tried these products, or have any suggestions for me !
It's all about helping a sister out !

I just started the coconut oil cleanse on tuesday! let me tell you my face is HORRID! they weren't kidding when they said it brought all the deep toxins up and may cause a break out. On the other hand, my skin does feel better ( not dry like usual) so hopefully after all the toxins are out my skin will clear!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I tried this it did bring up several break-outs. By day 3 they were nearly gone!
DeleteStick with it, it really does help.
*Also make sure you have the extra virgin/or unrefined coconut oil. It should smell like coconut.
I recently purchased the wrong kind and realized right away it wasn't the right one. No trace of coconut smell, and It's not as therapeutic .
Now I uses it as soon as I think I'm having a break-out and it's gone by the next day. It's also great for eczema ,etc!
Let me know how it goes! Everyone's chemistry is different so It may take some time for your skin to even out :-)
